Physiotherapist, also called physiotherapy, is actually one of the many healthcare professions concerned with treating injuries and illnesses of the musculoskeletal system. Physiotherapists provide physical therapy services to patients suffering from illnesses or injury that affects the soft tissues of the body. The exercises and massage are used to reduce pain, increase range of motion, speed recovery, and reduce inflammation.
When getting back to normal function, you will perform the exercises at home. You won’t have to go to see the doctor’s office. The exercises should be done in order to get back to your normal daily activities as quickly as possible. You should not perform the exercises more than three days in a row. If you try to do more than this, you will likely strain a muscle, which could end up causing further damage.
The first step to complete the exercise program is to have an initial assessment. This includes things like the ability to sit, stand, and walk. A thorough initial assessment is important when deciding on an exercise program. You must know what your limitations are so that you can begin designing the exercise program that will help you get back into shape quickly. Your treatment will include manual manipulation, manual traction, electrical muscle stimulation, manual resistance training and a combination of massage and traction. Depending on the severity of your injury, your physiotherapist may decide to put you through a series of targeted massage techniques to target the injured area.
The goal of the massage and soft tissue techniques is to relieve pain while increasing flexibility, strength and range of motion. In my experience, physical therapy and massage are very effective at treating acute pain, but it is not a cure for chronic conditions and if you have a serious condition, it is recommended you consult your doctor first before beginning a physical therapy or massage program. Physical therapy and massage are great for relieving pain; however, if you have a more serious problem, it is not a good idea to start a program such as this without the supervision of a physician.
